Video Transcript for Replacement Crank Handle for etrailer and Ram 5th Wheel Landing Gear Review

John: Hey guys, John here from etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at the Replacement Hand Crank for the etrailer.com Landing Gear Set. As I said, it's a replacement hand crank here, so you're going to fit it on the end of your landing gear. This is going to be used for if you don't have the electric gear motor here, or maybe you're at the campsite and you've lost power. This still allows you to operate your landing gear and raise and lower it.It's going to feature a nice long handle, which helps give us some more torque. This landing gear is rated for 8,000 pounds, so depending on your trailer it might be a little more difficult to raise and lower the legs.

As you can see, the grips here, they spin freely, which allows for easier operation of the landing gear. It has a nice clear zinc coated finish which helps prevent rust and corrosion. One thing I would like to point out, a common question I've gotten from customers is whether they can use this with other landing gear sets. It kind of depends. There is no standard dimensions for this fitting, and so your best bet is to just get the exact replacement for your landing gear set. That'll complete our look at the Replacement Handle here for the etrailer.com Landing Gear.

Thanks for watching.

Recieved the product and have installed half of it,got the unit in today looks good ,works well.

by:

Great value! I actually got this to use with a military trailer that was missing the handle to crank the jack up & down. Much cheaper than finding the surplus part.

by:

I purchased this handle along with new landing gear, but it didn't actually work. My camper has a smaller guide tube that this handle won't fit inside. The old handle worked fine, my mistake. The new handle is also longer. It is good quality and nicer than my old one. I am happy with the purchase, and I can use it on something else, but I didn't need to buy it.

by:

Easy to order and works great on my camper. One of the electric jacks won’t work so it was truly needed. Thank you!

by:

Great product. Took less than an hour to replace the old landing gear with the etrailer brand. Was a direct replacement with no problems. Shipping was fast.

by:

Ordering these was a no brainer for our oversized Toy Hauler, the capacity rating was almost double and the physical dimensions were exact replacements for the worn out originals. It only took about an hour start to finish on the install for me to do by myself. I couldn't be happier that I can now raise and lower the trailer via the switch again!

by:

As advertised came quick, easy order ,

  • Troubleshooting Atwood Landing Gear Leg That Doesnt Move
It sounds like the screw itself is damaged if the motor and gears are turning but the leg isn't moving. Atwood no longer is in the 5th wheel landing gear business so I recommend replacing your landing gear completely. The reason you would need to change out your whole set is because both legs need to move at the same ratio so that your trailer raises and lowers evenly on both sides. Since replacement parts are already becoming scarce for Atwood landing gear it would be better in the long...

  • Need Dimensions For Manual Override Crank With Slotted Head
Hey James, thanks for reaching out. Yes I can provide dimensions for the crank handles we carry. Two common ones are the Lippert # LC119226 and the Ram # RVLG-HDL. I have included a picture that shows dimensions of both. Hopefully one of these match what you are looking for. Or if there is another part you want dimensions for let me know.

  • Best Landing Gear Upgrade Options for 5th Wheel Trailer
We do have motors that you can add to your landing gear. For example, the Landing Gear Set # RVLG-8000 can be operated with the manual crank # RVLG-HDL but you can also add the motor # LC142178 and switch # LG-145236 for effortless operation on your end. The next upgrade for landing gear is the Ultra-Fab Deluxe Electric Landing Gear Set # UF17-943010. This is rated for up to 12,000 lbs and operates via separate motors so you can easily level your 5th wheel trailer without using blocks...

  • How to Choose the Correct Replacement Landing Gear for 5th Wheel Trailer
There are a few things that go into making sure you choose the correct replacement landing gear. First you need to be sure that the landing gear is rated properly. If you check out the weight rating on your current landing gear just make sure the replacement is rated for at least the same amount. The next step is making sure that the replacement landing gear has weld stops in the same locations as your current landing gear. This lets you replace the landing gear without having to do any...

  • Is there a Way to Identify 5th Wheel Trailer Landing Gear with No Markings
It is possible that there is a part number somewhere that would help identify the landing gear on your trailer. Sometimes there is information on the underside of the caps on the tops of the jacks so that is another place you can check if you haven't already. Many landing gear parts are interchangeable among the different manufacturers but this is not always the case so identifying the manufacture and/or model number is important. Another option is to replace the landing gear with an...

  • How To Install the Landing Gear Set Part # RVLG-8000
The installation of the Landing Gear Set part # RVLG-8000 will be fairly straight forward. Basically, you will need to have a metal support structure so you can attach welded tabs part # LC113511 to it, 15-1/2" apart. Once these are installed you can then mount the jack tube and modify a cross-shaft that connects the two together which is included. Then, you will need to obtain a handle, the Crank Handle part # RVLG-HDL to raise and lower the legs. Unfortunately, we do not have a video...

  • Landing Gear Replacement for 2007 Keystone Cougar 29BHS
If your brackets are 2" tall then you most likely have the standard weld stop measurements of 15-1/2" inside to inside (see attached photo). With this being the case I recommend going with the Landing Gear Set # RVLG-8000 which has a weight rating of 8,000 lbs and offers 20-1/2" of travel. Since you have an older trailer I bet the weld stops have just been wedged in the mounting brackets which is why you are having a hard time finding them. • Determining Which Replacement Landing Gear Fits 2007 Everest 5th Wheel Trailer
I would be happy to help you find the correct replacement landing gear for your 2007 Everest 5th Wheel trailer, but the only way to confirm this will be to measure the weld stops of your current landing gear setup. For example the Landing Gear Set - 36-1/2" Lift - 8,000 lbs # RVLG-8000 you were looking at has weld stops that measure 15-1/2" inside to inside and 17-1/2" outside to outside as shown in the included diagram. • Atwood Landing Gear Replacement for 36 Long Landing Gear
To replace the Atwood landing gear on your 5th wheel trailer you will need to measure the distance between your weld stops. This is typically 15-1/2" on the inside and 17-1/2" on the outside (see attached photo). We do have replacement options but since Atwood is no longer in the landing gear business you need to replace your whole landing gear set to ensure that the gear ratio and strengths are the same. While we don't have any way of knowing the specific landing gear that fits a 2021 Coachmen Chaparral Lite, I can tell you how to determine if you can use the Landing Gear Set # RVLG-8000.
